“ბარბალეს მარნის” დამფუძნებელი
“ღვინო ჩვილი ბავშვივითაა. დაწურვის დღიდან მოვლა, ყურადღება, სითბო და სიყვარული სჭირდება. ყურძნის მტევანში გამომწყვდეული მზის (ბარბალეს) სხივებიდან ღვინის მიღება ის მისტერიაა, რომელიც სიყვარულის გარეშე წარმოუდგენელია. გაბუტვაც იცის და გაჯიუტებაც, თუ ყურადღება მოაკელი, მაგრამ გიერთგულებს და გასახელებს, თუ შეგატყო, რომ გიყვარს და გულიანად ეპყრობი. ღვინის სამშობლოში, სადაც ვაზი და ღვინო ეროვნული იდენტობის და კულტურის შემადგენელი ნაწილია, სადაც ქართველთა გაქრისტიანება ვაზის ლერწმისგან შეკრული ჯვრით მოხდა IV საუკუნეში, საკუთარი ღვინის წარმოება უდიდესი პატივი და პასუხისმგებლობაა.“
Barbale’s Marani was established in 2014 by lawyer Zviad Kordzadze. It offers a wide range of wine varieties, including Otskhanuri Sapere, Tsolikouri, Usakhelouri, Khikhvi, Saperavi, Chardonnay, Malbec, Kakhuri Mtsvane, Rkatsiteli, Tsitska, and Orkhvi (Lechkhumis Tsolikouri). The cellar’s wines have already gained recognition both domestically and internationally. The 2020 Otskhanuri Sapere received a gold medal at the IWSC. Starting from 2023, Barbale’s Marani qvevri wines, Imeruli Tsolikouri and Orkhvi will be introduced to the American market.
Barbale’s Marani has its own wine bar-restaurant located at Gorgasali’s 19 in Tbilisi. In addition to the bar-restaurant, the cellar’s wines are available at the Tbilisi and Batumi branches of 8000 Mosavali.
The name Barbale’s Marani (Barbale’s Cellar) is intricately tied to the sun. In Georgian mythology, Barbale was revered as the goddess of the sun and fertility, and as one of the principal deities in the pantheon of pre-Christian beliefs. Barbale was the provider and bestower of fertility and the eternal cycle of life for humans, earth and all living beings alike. The letter Bani (B) and the Georgian words: borbali (wheel), brunva (rotation), Barbale, Barbaloba (Orthodox Christian holiday) and borjgali (Georgian symbol of eternity and the sun) are all interconnected and have their origins traced back to our ancient past. Therefore, Barbale’s Marani is the marani of the Sun.
