Tskaltubo is the oldest and well-known Balneological resort, rich with its carst caves. “Tetra Cave” – is a 3500 sq.m. corridor type cave, formed in limestone, distinctive with its white color dripped forms.
“Tetra Cave” keeps 30 000 years old history of first hominids. There was excavated the fragments of late Paleolithic era hominids, domestic and combat materials made by them, including the copper arrowhead, which is one of the most unique masterpiece and indicates on copper producing technology from ancient epoch of Georgia.
“Tetra Cave” is not only significant archeological spot, but also a speleological landmark. It was actively used for speleo-healing therapy in the 70-90s of the last century; its unique air had successfully treated diseases such as: hypertension and hypotonic diseases, atherosclerotic cardio sclerosis, bronchial asthma in adults and children, chronic bronchitis and pneumonia. The service is still actively used nowadays. For the very first time in Georgian, in “Tetra Cave” visitors are given the great opportunity to taste and buy three types of premium class Imeretian wine, aged in the unique micro climate of cave.
