WINE CELLAR
Since 2009, Babaneuris Marani has been actively producing an inimitable Georgian Wine using only traditional Qvevri. The wine is produced there from four Georgian grape varietals: Saperavi, Mtsvane, Kisi and Rkatsiteli, all grown on 11 hectares of vineyard directly adjacent to the property.
The amount of the wine produced by the company is limited due to the capacity of the vineyard itself, however, other than at the cellars and boutique hotel in Kakheti, wine-lovers can taste their wines in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi: at Veriko restaurant and wine bar HAERZE. The Babaneuris Marani wines are already in demand abroad, available in America, England, Frace, Germany, and the Netherlands.
The vineyard is planted on uniquely fartile land in Georgia’s major wine producing region – Kakheti and attracts tourists and wine lovers due to its location.
Babaneuri village is located quite high above sea level. There are many sloped vineyards in these areas, where the summer sun burns less and the nights are colder. These conditions increase the aroma content of the grape, which is later transferred to the wine.
“Babaneuris Marani” Saperavi is made and aged in qvevri. Its characteristic aromas of red cherry, black plum, black pepper, and blackberry are well-developed, with earthy and forest tones. This wine resembles Malbec in its eucalyptus and mint tones.
Boutique Hotel
Babaneuris Marani, the family-owned hotel has been operating since 2017 and it has already become the favorite place for visitors of Kakheti due to its homey atmosphere and the opportunity to taste unique Georgian Qvevri wine and enjoy various interesting activities there.
The winery’s boutique hotel offers 13 bedrooms, a heated swimming pool, a conference hall, hiking trails in the forests of Batsara-Babaneuri Strict Nature Reserve, and an acclaimed restaurant serving classic Georgian cuisine with a twist from locally-souced organic produce. Visitors can also take cooking classes from the estate’s private chef and wine tasting tours from the owner and winemaker.
