“Teliani Valley” and Georgia’s artisan winemakers join the forces to bring rare handmade wines to the world.
“Teliani Collection” – a new project by Teliani Valley aims to select rare handmade wines, distinguished by different signs, unit under one brand “wine people” and will offer several collections to wine lovers and professionals during the year.
“Wine People” is represented by 4 collections, covers 5 wine-producing regions of Georgia, uniting wines made by 28 winemakers from 32 different varieties.
The latest, 4th collection by Wine People unites winemakers who fermented their very first wine in 2021.
Start-up winemakers are essential for the future of the wine industry. They are bringing new ideas and fresh perspectives to the world of wine. They are helping to create a more diverse and exciting wine industry. For the very reason the idea of 4th collection – My First Vintage was born. Project will be an incentive to take further steps more confidently and in a correct way.
The collection includes 10 wines from 7 winemakers:
GIORGI CHERKEZISHVILI, a young winemaker continues his family tradition of winemaking, plans to build his own cellar and make wines from Georgian unique, rare grape varieties. His first wine was Chkapa 2021.
GUGA AKHALADZE, director by profession, with solid experience in art and business turned into a winemaker, built a cellar and stared cultivating his own vineyard. In the near future, Guga expects to diversify assortment tend produce wines from several other varieties. In 2021 wine Muscatic Rkatsiteli was his very first wine.
LEVAN PACHIKASHVILI, a young winemaker, who made very first wine in 2021. By being able to bring his wine to the world, Levan has an opportunity to grow and expand his winery. In Our 4th collection, we have Levan’s first wine Kakhuri Mtsvivani.
GIGA CHIGHLADZE, lawyer by profession, returned to his family’s roots in Imereti, built a cellar and produce wine with the help of winemaker, during which Giga gained a great experience and fermented his first wines – Kvishkhuri and Dzelshavi, independently.
GIORGI MAGLAKELIDZE who works in field of tourism, returned to family’s tradition, built a cellar and made his very first wines in 2021, Rachuli Mtsvane, Tsolikouri and Barakoni. In the future Giorgi plans to stay in wine industry and promote Georgian rare grape varieties.
LADO NAVERIANI, a young winemaker returned to family tradition of winemaking and fermented very first wine Chardonnay – Sauvignon, in his old German type cellar, in 2021. Promoting this wine will help him to grow and develop more wines.
UCHA ABULADZE, A young winemaker move to Kakheti and after practice in winemaking and viticulture made Krakhuna, his very first wine. Promoting this wine will help him increase assortment and develop more wines.
There are more than 500 endemic varieties of grapes in Georgia, most of them are forgotten and are rarely found in the vineyards of family wineries. Therefore, we always try to select rare varieties from the best wines of winemakers for the collection.
All of the collection wines are limited editions. Each bottle of wine will tell you an amazing story of a wine and a winemaker.
