Every autumn, in October, as Kakheti takes on its most enchanting colours, the Chavchavadze Estate becomes home to the Jazz & Wine Kakheti festival – where jazz meets its perfect match in Georgian wine. Organised by Eastern Promotions, the festival brings together wine and music lovers in the heart of Georgia’s leading winemaking region, during the most beautiful season of the year.
Every year, as autumn begins, I could ask you: what goes best with wine? You might say: good food, engaging conversation, the right setting or company. But no. In my opinion, nothing pairs with wine quite like jazz.
Picture Kakheti and its wines, with deep wild cherry hues, distinct varietal aromas, full-bodied with moderate tannins – like percussions. Or Imeretian wines like Tsitska, straw-coloured with a greenish tint, lively and energetic, with a soft, harmonious flavour – an alto saxophone. Racha’s Aleksandrouli, with its red berry aromas, balanced acidity, and long finish – that’s the keys of a piano. Kartli’s Tavkveri,refined, smooth and velvety on the palate, with a balanced structure and elegant finish – is the double bass. And Chkhaveri from Guria, pink-hued, with notes of barberry, raspberry and red fruit – that’s the vocals.
Georgian wine, with its regional diversity, flavours and aromas, echoes a jazz orchestra – free, bold, and deeply melodic.
On 11 October, the Tsinandali Estate will host the ninth edition of Jazz & Wine Kakheti, an event filled with wine, music, and, of course, a fantastic crowd. Guests will once again be able to taste wines from over 30 producers, including boutique wineries and more established producers, across the amphitheatre grounds. What’s especially worth noting is that each year, the festival showcases more and more small wineries and their exciting, distinctive wines.

Jazz & Wine Kakheti will kick off at 13:00 in the amphitheatre of the Tsinandali Estate with a wine tasting session, followed by gastronomic and, of course, musical events – a combination that perfectly suits this festival.
The festival will open with an energetic musical performance, and no one does it quite like the Italian Salt Peanuts Show Band. They visited Kakheti two years ago with vocalist Sara Jane Ghiotti, and this year they return with Rachel Doe joining them for the show.
These charismatic guys are true travelling musicians, carrying the rhythms of rock ’n’ roll from country to country and filling the crowd with energy, like salted peanuts. The band, known for their covers of famous songs, will get you moving, and you won’t want to stop dancing to their beat anytime soon. This time, Michele, Fabrizio, Ricardo, Michele, and Carlo will be joined by Rachel, whose smooth and pleasant vocals add a perfect touch.
Alongside the show, festival guests will be treated to Italian dishes prepared by chef Maurizio Siciliano.
In the evening, we’ll enjoy a performance by Francesca Tandoi, the Italian jazz pianist and singer, hailed as a rising star and one of the most captivating performers on the international jazz scene, in the Ballroom at the Tsinandali Estate.
Francesca graduated from the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and earned her master’s degree from Codarts Conservatory and University of Arts in Rotterdam. As a pianist and vocalist, she quickly gained international recognition. She has collaborated with musicians such as Scott Hamilton, Philip Harper, Jason Brown, Darius Brubeck, and others. Her performances can be heard on stages of renowned theatres, jazz clubs, and festivals worldwide, including the North Sea Jazz Festival, Umbria Jazz, Cork Jazz, and Amsterdam Arena Stadium.
We’ll have the pleasure of hearing Francesca, a stylish swing pianist with smooth, beautiful vocals, live at the Tsinandali Estate.
Alongside her trio, Francesca Tandoi has recorded several albums, including For Elvira, Something Blue, Magic Three, Hope, When in Rome, Bop Web, and Wind Dance, which was named one of the top ten albums of 2017 by the Japanese magazine Jazz Life.
Italy, a country known for its singing, exceptional wines, and vibrant, diverse cuisine, will once again be a guest at this year’s Jazz & Wine festival. Georgia’s Kakheti region, celebrated for its outstanding wines and gastronomy, shares a similarly warm and inviting timbre that echoes Italy’s charm.

A Special Guest at Jazz & Wine Kakheti
At the end of the day, we’ll move from the Ballroom back to the amphitheatre to hear the queen of bass and funk, Nik West. If you haven’t yet seen this American bassist captivate audiences with her energy and distinctive style, get ready for an unforgettable musical experience.
‘An iconic bassist of her generation’- that’s how Rolling Stone magazine describes Nik West, who is much more than just a musician. She’s a charismatic bassist boldly breaking the boundaries of musical genres. At the same time, her remarkable vocals take listeners on an emotional journey like no other.
Nik’s musical career includes collaborations with artists such as Quincy Jones, Glee, Dave Stewart, Macy Gray, and John Mayer. From 2012, she was the bassist for the legendary Prince. This isn’t Nik’s first time in Georgia, but it’s her debut at the festival where jazz and wine come together.
