KABIS TONI WINERY

“Kabis Toni” was established in 2016. Its founder is Ketevan (Keti) Jurkhadze – a winemaker and international wine expert. “Kabis toni” aims to produce high-quality wines from Georgian endemic grape varieties, using different winemaking methods that make their wine unique.

The name of the company – Kabis Toni – is directly related to the Georgian endemic grape variety “Kabistoni” and has long been associated not only with winemaking and a particular variety but with a woman winemaker Keti Jurkhadze.

“Kabis Toni” started their winemaking with qvevri Saperavi in 2016, which they bottled in 2018 and successfully sold on a local market. Since then, the production has been steadily increasing to meet the increasing demand. Today, the company makes qvevri wines from 5 different Georgian endemic grape varieties: Chinuri, Khikhvi, Tavkveri, Chkhaveri, and Saperavi. Their total volume of production is 5000 bottles that are sold on local as well as international markets including Singapore, Sweden, Germany, and the US.

What makes “Kabis Toni” wines stand out is their aroma and taste that are achieved with a unique method of qvevri winemaking, and the years of expertise winemakers bring to the craft.

In 2021, the company introduced a new brand to the market: “Kata Marani”. The brand name came from a stray cat, named Kato, who decided to settle in the wine cellar (marani in Georgian). The brand only offers Saperavi wines.

Translated into Georgian word by word, Kata Marani means catamaran, which differs from other boats as Saperavi differs from other wines, with its unique taste and aroma.

Besides winemaking, Kabis Toni owns a winemaking school of the same name that has successfully held various training programs for the last 6 years.
