BLEEKER WIJNIMPORT: Ambassador of Georgian Wine in the Netherlands

Georgian wine is imported to the Netherlands by Bleeker Wijnimport, a company owned by Mana Bleeker-Ottmer and Peter Bleeker. They also run Wijnhuis Mana, a wine house near Amsterdam, in the city of Purmerend, where they showcase over 150 types of wine from thirty Georgian wine companies. Every year, the company participates in wine exhibitions and festivals held in the Netherlands. Additionally, their wine house hosts wine specialists, writers, sommeliers, and representatives from the HoReCa industry, where they introduce them to a diverse range of Georgian wines.

Mana Bleeker-Ottmer: Wine has always been and remains an integral part of Georgian culture. This deepens our desire to bring this significant aspect of our tradition and culture to Europe, conveying our emotions and love to both foreign consumers and wine professionals alike. That’s why we opened the wine house, Wijnhuis-mana (wijnhuis-mana.nl), where we regularly host wine professionals and consumers. We conduct wine tastings, during which we introduce Georgian wine by providing insights into its history, tradition, and culture. At Wijnhuis-mana, Georgian wine shares the spotlight with renowned brands such as Clos Saint Jean Chateauneuf Du Pape, Château de la Charrière, Fontanafredda, Vintae, Château Musar, Becker Landgraf J2, Bonnet-Ponson, and Yves Cuilleron.

Import

Today, we directly import more than 150 types of Georgian wine from Georgia. Our main focus is on supporting small and medium-sized wineries, with a special emphasis on promoting amber wine. Our priority is to provide high-quality wine to the Dutch, who have extremely high standards. This is particularly crucial considering the competitive market environment.

Restaurants, Consumers, and Bloggers

Peter Bleeker: Alongside the Netherlands, the wines we import are sampled in restaurants, shops, and wine bars across numerous European countries. These wines consistently receive positive reviews in competitions, from wine bloggers, and industry professionals. We actively partner with stores specializing in natural wine, prioritizing diversity over solely focusing on French, Italian, or established European varieties.

Last year, Bleeker Wijnimport organized a large-scale event for the first time: a presentation and tasting featuring wines from 20 Georgian producers, held in Amsterdam. Among the 150 guests were wine specialists, writers, sommeliers, and representatives from the HoReCa industry. This marked the inaugural event solely dedicated to Georgian wine in the Netherlands.

This year, both the scale and the number of guests has increased, along with a change in location. Mana Bleeker-Otmer: The success and positive feedback from last year’s event motivated us to expand our efforts this year. For the venue, we selected Capital C in the heart of Amsterdam, where the last two floors were dedicated to both the presentation and master class sections of the event, as well as the exhibition.

Among the participants of the event were winemakers and producers whose wines we already import, including Winiveria, Gurashvili Winery, Tavankari, Labara, Ancient Valley, Vazisubani Estate, Royal Khvanchkara, Orgo, Georgian Sun, Rtoni, Melitoni, Chonas Marani, Tchotiashvili ‘s cellar, Dano Winery, Ethno, Teliani/Wine People, Sopho’s Family Winery, Dakishvili Winery, Best Georgian Wine, Shalauri, Janiani, Babaneuris Marani, Ocho Winery, and Nareklishvili Family Winery. Additionally, high-alcohol drinks such as Chacha from Winiveria, Mildiani, and Teliani were presented.

Moreover, wineries that are not yet featured in our wine house, such as Shilda and Bimbili, also participated in the tasting with their intriguing wines.

Each of the producers had the opportunity and allotted time to present their wines and discuss winemaking with the guests during the first section of the event. The second half of the day was entirely devoted to the exhibition of Georgian wines, held in the panoramic hall of Capital C. We believe that events like these tasting-exhibitions will undoubtedly raise awareness of Georgian wine in the Dutch market.

ქართული ღვინის იმპორტს ნიდერლანდებში კომპანია Bleeker Wijnimport ახორციელებს – მანა ბლიკერ-ოტმერი და პეტერ ბლიკერი, რომლებსაც ამსტერდამთან, ქალაქ პურმერენდში, ღვინის სახლი Wijnhuis Mana აქვთ, სადაც ოცდაათამდე ქართული ღვინის კომპანიის 150-ზე მეტი სახეობის ღვინოა წარმოდგენილი. ყოველწლიურად კომპანია მონაწილეობს ნიდერლანდებში გამართულ ღვინის გამოფენებსა და ფესტივალებზე. ღვინის სახლში კი მასპინძლობს ღვინის სფეროს სპეციალისტებს, ღვინის მწერლებს, სომელიეებსა და HORECA-ს წარმომადგენლებს და მათ ქართულ ღვინოს აცნობს.

რესტორნები, მომხმარებლები, ბლოგერები

პეტერ ბლიკერი: ჩვენ მიერ იმპორტირებულ ღვინოებს, ნიდერლანდების გარდა, ევროპის არაერთი ქვეყნის რესტორნებში, მაღაზიებს თუ ღვინის ბარებში აგემოვნებენ. ეს ღვინოები დადებით შეფასებებს იღებენ კონკურსებზე – ღვინის ბლოგერებისა თუ პროფესიონალებისგან. აქტიურად ვთანამშრომლობთ ნატურალურ ღვინოზე ორიენტირებულ მაღაზიებთან, რომლებიც მხოლოდ ფრანგულ, იტალიურ, ან ევროპაში კარგად დამკვიდრებულ ღვინის სახეობებზე არ არიან ფოკუსირებული და განსხვავებული პროდუქტი უფრო აინტერესებთ.
გასულ წელს, Bleeker Wijnimport-მა პირველად დაგეგმა და განახორციელა მასშტაბური ღონისძიება: 20-მდე ქართველი მწარმოებლის ღვინოების პრეზენტაცია და დეგუსტაცია ამსტერდამში ჩატარდა. 150 სტუმარს შორის იყვნენ ღვინის სფეროს სპეციალისტები, მწერლები, სომელიეები და HoReCa-ს წარმომადგენლები. ეს გახლდათ პირველი ასეთი ფორმატის, მხოლოდ ქართულ ღვინოზე ფოკუსირებული ღონისძიება ნიდერლანდებში. წელს, მასშტაბებიც გაიზარდა, სტუმართა რაოდენობაც. შეიცვალა ლოკაციაც.

ღონისძიების მონაწილეებს შორის იყვნენ ის მეღვინე/მწარმოებლები, რომელთა ღვინოების იმპორტსაც უკვე ვახორციელებთ: ვინივერია, გურაშვილის მეღვინეობა, თავანკარი, ლაბარა, ენშიენთ ველი, ვაზისუბნის მამული, როიალ ხვანჭკარა, ორგო, ჯორჯიან სან, რტონი, მელიტონი, ჭონას მარანი, ჭოტიაშვილის მარანი, დანოს მეღვინეობა, ეთნო, თელიანი/ღვინის ხალხი, სოფოს მეღვინეობა, დაქიშვილის მეღვინეობა, ბესტ ჯეორჯიან ვაინ, შალაური, ჯანიანი, ბაბანეურის მარანი, ოჩოს მეღვინეობა, ნარეკლიშვილის საოჯახო მარანი. მაღალალკოჰოლური სასმელებიდან წარმოდგენილი იყო ვინივერიას, მილდიანის და თელიანის ჭაჭა.დეგუსტაციაში მონაწილეობა მიიღეს მეღვინეობებმაც, რომლებიც ჯერ არ არიან წარმოდგენილი ჩვენს ღვინის სახლში – შილდა, ბიმბილი – საინტერესო ღვინოებით. თითოეულ მწარმოებელს ჰქონდა შესაძლებლობა და განკუთვნილი დრო, ღონისძიების პირველ სექციაში გაემართა პრეზენტაცია, წარედგინა სტუმრებისთვის თავისი ღვინოები, ესაუბრა მეღვინეობაზე. დღის მეორე ნახევარი კი მთლიანად დაეთმო ქართული ღვინოების გამოფენას, რომელიც Capital C პანორამულ დარბაზში გაიმართა. იმედი გვაქვს, რომ ასეთი დეგუსტაცია-გამოფენების მეშვეობით ქართული ღვინის ცნობადობა ნიდერლანდების ბაზარზე აუცილებლად გაიზრდება.“
